Basketball Recap: Juliana Davis and Mylee Mcqueary Secure Win for Madison

After losing to Seymour the last time they met, Madison decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Madison Cubs walked away with a 60-50 win over the Seymour Owls on Saturday. Given the Cubs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Owls are ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Madison to victory were Mylee Mcqueary and Juliana Davis. Mcqueary went 8 of 15 en route to 24 points and six rebounds, while Davis went 7 of 13 on her way to 20 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Mcqueary a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Montgomery, who posted six points and six steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Madison and bumps their season record up to 7-1. As for Seymour, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Madison and Jennings County will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Seymour will take on Columbus North in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seymour has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
