Softball Recap: St. Joseph Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

St. Joseph had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Calhoun on Friday. The Flyers put the hurt on the Sandcrabs with a sharp 11-2 win. Considering the Flyers have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Jazmyn Gamez, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2025. Another player making a difference was Valery Villareal, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

St. Joseph always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhoun only posted an OBP of .238.

The victory (which was St. Joseph's third in a row) raised their record to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Calhoun, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5-1.

Coming up, St. Joseph will challenge Bay City at 12:50 p.m. on Saturday. As for Calhoun, they will host Columbus at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday.
