Softball Recap: Mount Union Has No Trouble Against Northern Bedford County

Mount Union barely beat Northern Bedford County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-2 win on Tuesday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Payton Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sydnee Harris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kaylynn Wharton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Mount Union's record now sits at 5-8. As for Northern Bedford County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-7 record.

Mount Union didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 loss against Curwensville on the 30th. As for Northern Bedford County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-0 win against Forbes Road on the 1st.
