Basketball Game Preview: Emery Spartans vs. Delta Rabbits

Emery has gone 8-2 against Delta recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Emery Spartans will welcome the Delta Rabbits at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Emery has four straight wins, Delta has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Emery is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since December 13, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Juab 74-71.

Emery's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Porter Hurdsman, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 25 points and three steals. Those 25 points gave Hurdsman a new career-high. Jace Frandsen was another key player, going 6 of 10 en route to 17 points and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Delta was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 73-68 to Manti.

Delta's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Emery, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Emery came out on top in a nail-biter against Delta in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 43-41. Will Emery repeat their success, or does Delta have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
