Basketball Recap: Giltner Takes a Loss

Giltner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Blue Hill Bobcats and fell 58-19. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-7.

Myiah Antle was Giltner's leading scorer, having posted six points. Peyton Schutt held things down on the boards with nine rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Blue Hill had a senior duo take command as Ellie Mangers went 11 of 17 on her way to 26 points and six steals and Reece Mlady almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Mangers has scored at least a third of Blue Hill's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Kohmetscher, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Giltner's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Blue Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Giltner wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 27-21 defeat against Lawrence-Nelson on the 9th. As for Blue Hill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 33-19 loss against Silver Lake on the 10th.
