Basketball Recap: Jefferson Independent Day Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bronaugh on Friday, Jefferson Independent Day came back down to earth. The Cavaliers fell 59-46 to the Lockwood Tigers on Monday. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Jefferson Independent Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Will Twiss shot 53% from the field on his way to 19 points and three steals. Twiss is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Simon Studer was another key player, putting up eight points.

Jefferson Independent Day's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lockwood, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Jefferson Independent Day will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Southwest at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2026. Lockwood will take on Greenfield in a holiday battle at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
