Football Recap: Linton-Stockton Piles Up the Points Against Greencastle

Linton-Stockton had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Greencastle Tiger Cubs 46-10 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Miners, who have now won five games by 30 points or more so far this season.

Leading Linton-Stockton to victory were Paul Oliver and Cooper Smith. Oliver rushed for 150 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries, while Smith gained 124 total yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in rushing yards (116).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Linton-Stockton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 345 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 175 rushing yards in eight consecutive contests.

Another reason for the win was Linton-Stockton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Corey Andrews was the leader with two.

Linton-Stockton pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.6 points over those games. As for Greencastle, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coming up, Linton-Stockton will face off against Sullivan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Miners will need to watch out since the Golden Arrows have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. Greencastle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
