Softball Recap: Mount Abram Takes a Loss

Mount Abram extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-2 in the process. They came up short against the Lisbon Greyhounds, falling 23-2. The Roadrunners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greyhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Lisbon, they now have a winning record of 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

For Lisbon's part, Mackenzie Eaton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Eaton has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubriana Bright, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Bright is crushing it when it comes to hits: she's got at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Molly Austin was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Mount Abram is set to square off against their familiar foe Monmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lisbon will challenge rival Dirigo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
