Baseball Recap: Escambia Triumphs

Escambia came out on top against Pine Forest on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Gators never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Cohen Rush was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rush was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Chase Burson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Abraham Gonzalez was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Tyler Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Escambia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.

Escambia's record is now 4-1. As for Pine Forest, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Escambia will head out on the road to take on Northview at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gators 4, the Chiefs 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Pine Forest, they will be playing at home against Baker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
