Basketball Recap: Platteview Comes Up Short

After flying high against Ralston last Thursday, Platteview came back down to earth. The Platteview Trojans fell 59-46 to the Seward Bluejays on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Bluejays are ranked 33rd).

Despite the defeat, Platteview saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hadley Fahrenbruch went 6-for-7 on her way to 15 points and five boards. That's the most points Fahrenbruch has posted since back in December of 2024. Alexys Mandel was another key player, putting up nine points.

Platteview's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Seward, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

Coming up, Platteview will square off against Douglas County West at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Seward, they will face off against York at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. York will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Seward surely won't give up without a fight.
