Softball Recap: Bucksport's Undefeated Season over After 14 Games

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Bucksport finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell just short of the Washington Academy Raiders by a score of 2-1. The matchup marked the Golden Bucks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Natalie Simpson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Bucksport saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Harvey, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bucksport fell to 13-1. As for Washington Academy, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-4 record.

Looking ahead, Bucksport will square off against Searsport at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Golden Bucks are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a five-game losing streak. Washington Academy will be paying especially close attention to Bucksport's game: after Bucksport faces off against Searsport, they'll take on Washington Academy again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
