Basketball Recap: Hug Triumphs

Yerington came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Hug, but Cori Carrier wouldn't allow it. The Hug Hawks came out on top against the Yerington Lions by a score of 45-36 on Saturday thanks in part to Carrier, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Hug's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Taliyah Henderson, who posted six points and five steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

The victory got Hug back to even at 5-5. As for Yerington, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-4.

After both having extra time off, Hug and Wooster will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Hug is facing Wooster at the right time seeing as Wooster is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Yerington, they will face off against North Tahoe at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Tahoe will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Yerington surely won't give up without a fight.
