Basketball Recap: Sherwood Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kiah Felton and Kadynce Hill

Sherwood lost against Crest Ridge back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Sherwood Marksmen took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crest Ridge Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Marksmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while the Cougars are ranked 207th).

Despite the defeat, Sherwood had strong showings from Kadynce Hill, who posted 18 points in addition to seven boards and six steals, and Kiah Felton, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Hill a new career-high in points. Miyah Swigart also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Crest Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Laney Wilhite out in front who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards. Another player making a difference was Brilynn Fleming, who had 20 points and four steals.

Sherwood's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Crest Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Sherwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-25 defeat against Adrian on the 7th. As for Crest Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-33 loss against Santa Fe on the 7th.
