Basketball Recap: Elite Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Somerset Prep last Friday, Elite Academy came back down to earth. The Elite Academy Eagles fell to the King's Academy Lions 51-47. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Elite Academy lost on Tuesday, don't look at Ladainian Brooks. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Brooks has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Levi Brown, who posted 13 points.

Even though they lost, Elite Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Leading King's Academy to victory were Javian Jones and Matt Mcpherson. Jones scored 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists, while Mcpherson went 6 of 15 en route to 19 points and five boards. That's the most points Mcpherson has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah McCoy, who put up seven points and ten rebounds.

Elite Academy now has a losing record at 8-9. As for King's Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5.

Elite Academy will square off against True North Classical Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for King's Academy, they will host Berean Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
