Softball Game Preview: Dedham Marauders vs. Millis Mohawks

Dedham and Millis are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Marauders will venture away from home to square off against the Mohawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dedham has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Dedham is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Norton just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 15-1 to the Lancers.

Dedham saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joslyn Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Hopkinton hit Millis with a seven-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mohawks came up short against the Hillers, falling 13-1. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 4-4. As for Dedham, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4-1.

Millis' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Dedham has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Millis, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Dedham keep running through batters, or will the Mohawks buck the trend?

Dedham came out on top in a nail-biter against Millis in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Marauders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
