Gaffney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Boiling Springs Bulldogs. Scout Gilfillan was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Gaffney is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-12 otherwise. Gilfillan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Gilfillan wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jace Bradbury, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
