Recap: Lyman Eagles vs. Pinedale Wranglers
After flying high against the Hot Springs County Bobcats last Saturday, the Lyman Eagles came back down to earth. Lyman took a hard 63-48 fall against Pinedale on Thursday. Lyman was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pinedale apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
Loss or not, Lyman got some senior leadership from Paige Rose and Ashtyn Wells. Rose scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Wells. scored 12 points along with three steals. Rose is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was BriLee Bradshaw, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Lyman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pinedale only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pinedale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Erica Wilson, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Wilson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyn Bowers, who scored 13 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Lyman and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Pinedale, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Lyman will be playing at home against Lander Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wyoming (Lander Valley is ranked 17th, while Lyman is ranked 26th). Pinedale will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Mountain View at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Mountain View will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
