Basketball Recap: Spartanburg Day Falls Short of Pee Dee Academy in the Playoffs

Spartanburg Day and Pee Dee Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Spartanburg Day had to settle for second. They lost 51-27 to the Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles. The contest marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Colby Richardson went supernova for Pee Dee Academy, shooting 4-for-7 from downtown and dropping a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards. What's more, Richardson also posted a 57% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ethan Carroll, who made all 5 shots he took to post 12 points.

Spartanburg Day's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Pee Dee Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
