Softball Recap: Midway Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Midway came tearing into Tuesday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Red Springs Red Devils a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Raiders have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Samantha Carter and Ella Clark did most of the damage at the plate: Carter went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Clark went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Carter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karabeth Benton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Midway lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Midway's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Red Springs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Coming up, Midway will challenge St. Pauls at 6:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Red Springs, they will face off against Scotland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
