Baseball Game Preview: Spring Creek Spartans vs. Dayton Dust Devils

For the second straight game, Spring Creek will face off against Dayton. Spring Creek will head out on the road to challenge Dayton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Spring Creek has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Spring Creek is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Dayton on Friday. They lost 13-2 to the Dust Devils. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Dayton's part, they got a great performance from River Aten as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ivor Evans, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Duke Evans, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Dayton pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
