Basketball Recap: Portland Comes Up Short

Portland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Old Saybrook Rams, falling 61-23. The Highlanders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.

Kelsey Desmarais was Portland's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Cassidy Maruschock held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Portland's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Old Saybrook, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Portland will challenge Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Old Saybrook, they will welcome Haddam-Killingworth at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
