Wyoming High School beats Taylor 38-0 for its 72nd consecutive regular season victory.

Wyoming (Cincinnati, Ohio) last lost a regular season high school football game Oct. 23, 2015. Since that date nearly eight years ago, the Cowboys have rattled off a new state record 72 consecutive non-playoff wins.

The 72nd came Friday night with a 38-0 victory over Taylor. As detailed by Evan Merrill of The Enquirer, the previous record was established by Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The architect of the streak and the Wyoming program is Aaron Hancock, who has a 127-17 record since taking over as head coach in 2012. The Cowboys won the Division IV state championship in 2018 and carried a 15-0 mark into last year's title game before falling to Glenville (Cleveland).

A 5-0 record this fall hasn't come without close calls. Wyoming beat Ross (Hamilton) 16-12 in the season opener and slipped past Madeira (Cincinnati) 28-20 last week.

That last loss back in 2015 came against Reading, who is on the schedule once again next Friday and looking formidable this season. The Blue Devils are 4-1 and averaging over 40 points per game
