Softball Recap: South San Antonio's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to 11

South San Antonio waltzed into their contest on Thursday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Southside Cardinals a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

South San Antonio got a great performance from Catalina Bonilla as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Bonilla has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alexa Torres was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Raena Ramirez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

South San Antonio was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

South San Antonio's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Southside, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Coincidentally, South San Antonio and Southside will both be playing MacArthur the next time they take the field. The Cardinals will head out to face the Brahmas at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Bobcats will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
