AAAA Region 7A recap October 22, 2013
Pickens lost to Gilmer 17-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Shannon Brooks was a bright spot for the Dragons, as he ran for 163 yards and caught 3 passes for 14 yards in the defeat.
The Bobcats made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,401 from 4,107. The advance stemmed from a 17-0 victory over Pickens last week.
Leading AAAA Region 7A in both passing and receiving yards, Chris Parker's team's Tanner Brumby and Brooks have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Brumby has thrown for 826 yards this season, while Brooks has 15 catches for 254 yards. Nick Chubb from Cedartown leads the league in rushing with 1,883 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Cass takes on the Bulldogs. The Colonels are currently in fourth, while Cedartown is in first.
Gilmer featured an ironclad defense this week, and led the league in points allowed with 0.
