Basketball Recap: DeLand-Weldon Takes a Loss

DeLand-Weldon lost against Mt. Olive back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The DeLand-Weldon Eagles were beaten by the Mt. Olive Wildcats 61-32. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mt. Olive's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Bywater, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Briley Viviano, who went 7 of 15 en route to 16 points and five steals.

DeLand-Weldon's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Mt. Olive, their win ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

DeLand-Weldon will venture away from home to face off against Chrisman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chrisman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season. As for Mt. Olive, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 81-27 defeat against Calvary on the 10th.
