Softball Recap: Cross Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against John Paul II, Cross was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Battery Creek Dolphins 9-8. For the Stingrays, this counts as revenge for the 14-4 win the Dolphins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Alaysia Hollings was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Lulu Carbone was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cross kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Cross is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Battery Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Cross will venture away from home to face off against Holly Hill Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Battery Creek, they will welcome Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
