Softball Recap: Chico Has No Trouble Against Reno

Chico was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Reno on Friday. Chico put the hurt on Reno with a sharp 9-1 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Caitlin Ho was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Caroline LaMoe was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Chico hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Chico now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Reno, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-13-1.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Chico Panthers duke it out with Douglas Tigers at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Chico's pitchers better be ready for this one: Douglas has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Reno, they will take on Dayton in a tournament on Friday.
