Basketball Recap: Giddings Comes Up Short

If Giddings was riding high fresh off their 66-19 takedown of Smithville last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Giddings Buffaloes took a 59-45 bruising from the La Grange Leopards on Tuesday. The Buffaloes have struggled against the Leopards recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead La Grange to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cordale Knapik, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Knapik a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Brandon Mathis, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten rebounds, and ten blocks.

Giddings' loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for La Grange, they pushed their record up to 20-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Giddings has already played their next contest (against Bellville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. La Grange will be playing in front of their home fans against Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
