Football Game Preview: Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators vs. Brunswick Academy Vikings

The Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators will square off against the Brunswick Academy Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Greenbrier Christian Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Fishburne Military, who was ranked seventh at the time (Greenbrier Christian Academy was ranked fifth). The Gators blew past the Caissons 51-0 on Friday. The Gators pushed the score to 44-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Caissons had no chance of recovering from.

Tucker Basnight continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 218 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 151 rushing yards dating back to last season. Tyson Moravec was another key player, rushing for 21 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Greenbrier Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 244 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 165 rushing yards in 14 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Greenbrier Christian Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Conner Isenberg. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Brunswick Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 53-8 win over Chincoteague. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-0.

Brunswick Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Greenbrier Christian Academy was taken down by Brunswick Academy 59-14 when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
