Softball Game Preview: Lakeside Christian Lions vs. Oasis Christian Lions

We've got a battle between Lions coming up. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Lakeside Christian lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Hernando Christian Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. Lakeside Christian's pitchers stepped up to hand Hernando Christian Academy a 23-0 shutout on Tuesday. Lakeside Christian's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Oasis Christian hadn't done well against Central Florida Christian Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Oasis Christian was the clear victor by a 17-1 margin over Central Florida Christian Academy.

Shianne Dunkle made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Amber Whittington was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Emilie Dutheil was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Lakeside Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Oasis Christian, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Lakeside Christian took their victory against Oasis Christian in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 16-2. Will Lakeside Christian repeat their success, or does Oasis Christian has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
