Basketball Recap: Asher Stutzman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pathway Christian over East Moline Christian

Pathway Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 44-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Moline Christian Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 49-33 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Pathway Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Asher Stutzman, who posted nine points and three steals. That's the most steals Stutzman has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Yutzy, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points.

Preston Baldwin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Moline Christian, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Baldwin has scored at least a third of East Moline Christian's points. Bright Tsolegnanou was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Pathway Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for East Moline Christian, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Pathway Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 67-37 loss against Quad Cities Christian on the 6th. As for East Moline Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 25-21 defeat against Morning Star Academy on the 5th.
