Basketball Game Preview: Arcadia Firebirds vs. Northampton Yellowjackets

The Arcadia Firebirds will challenge the Northampton Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Arcadia comes in on eight and Northampton on three.

If Arcadia beats Northampton with 82 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Arcadia blew past Chincoteague 82-50 on Thursday. The Firebirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Jordan Cropper continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 11 for 18 to rack up 27 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyrell Wise, who went 8 of 16 en route to 16 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Northampton posted their closest victory since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 69-66 win over Mathews.

Arcadia better keep an eye on Antoine Horsley. He was instrumental in Northampton's win, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Those 16 points gave Horsley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Anderson, who posted 13 points.

Northampton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

Arcadia's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. As for Northampton, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

Arcadia barely slipped by Northampton in their previous matchup last Thursday, winning 79-78. Does Arcadia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northampton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
