Soccer Game Preview: Metro-East Lutheran vs. Roxana

Metro-East Lutheran is 0-8 against Roxana since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Knights will face off against the Shells at 5:15 p.m. Metro-East Lutheran has given up an average of 6.9 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Metro-East Lutheran is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to Althoff Catholic. While losing is never fun, Metro-East Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Althoff Catholic are ranked 42nd).

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Roxana ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a goal and slipped past Freeburg 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Roxana were the better team in the second half.

Metro-East Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Roxana, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9-2.

Metro-East Lutheran suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Roxana in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
