Softball Recap: Sebastian River Has No Trouble Against Plantation

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sebastian River had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over the Plantation Colonels. The result was nothing new for the Sharks, who have now won ten games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Kiera Carow made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Sebastian River let Alexa Pittman and Rily Biggers run wild. Pittman went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Biggers went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Pittman has posted since back in April of 2024. Whitney Villars was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Sebastian River hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.

Sebastian River's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Plantation, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8-1.

Coming up, Sebastian River will venture away from home to face off against South Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Sharks surely won't give up without a fight. Plantation does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
