Brother Rice posted their closest win since June 8, 2024 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Mary's Prep Eaglets 3-1. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Eaglets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Blake Ilitch tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Brother Rice's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cash Van Ameyde, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Van Ameyde is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Tristan Turner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Brother Rice now has a winning record of 3-2. As for St. Mary's Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Brother Rice is headed away from home for the first time to take on Central at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Mary's Prep, they will welcome De La Salle Collegiate at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Mary's Prep 2.2, De La Salle Collegiate 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
