Softball Recap: River City Raiders vs. McClatchy Lions        
        
		
            
 River City's game  last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them  on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past the McClatchy Lions  7-5. That's more bragging rights for River City, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
  Salina Huizar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned  (and three unearned) runs on 13 hits. Those seven  innings set a new season-high mark for her.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Julia Medina, who  scored a  run and  stole five bases while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of  Emily San Jose, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-3.
 On McClatchy's side,  Maia Jacobs was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring a  run while going 3-for-4.  Jocelyn Rodriguez was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
 Even though they lost, McClatchy  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 16  hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River City only hit nine.
 River City's victory bumped their record up to 5-6-1. As for McClatchy, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost four of their last five matches,  which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record  this season.
 River City will head out on the road to  square off against  Laguna Creek at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Laguna Creek and River City are at an even 4-4-1 over their past nine head-to-heads. As for McClatchy, they will be playing at home against Monterey Trail at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
