Softball Game Preview: Lemon Bay Manta Rays vs. North Port Bobcats

The Lemon Bay Manta Rays will venture away from home to face off against the North Port Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lemon Bay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Lemon Bay made easy work of DeSoto County and carried off a 14-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Manta Rays.

Cassidy Silvia was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Kylie Jones was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Lemon Bay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as DeSoto County only posted an OBP of .375.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, North Port's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Sarasota by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bobcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

North Port saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Baskins, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

North Port now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Lemon Bay, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-5.
