Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Pleasant Tigers vs. Lewis County Panthers

For the second straight game, Mt. Pleasant will face off against Lewis County. The Tigers will challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Pleasant has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 27.

It was a proper cat-fight when Mt. Pleasant duked it out with Lewis County on Monday. The Tigers came up short against the Panthers, falling 18-4.

For Lewis County's part, Fletch Kelsey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kelsey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Lewis County is undefeated when Kelsey posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Lewis County let Brayden Whitlow and Maddox Tanner run wild. Whitlow scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Tanner scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Whitlow has become a key player for Lewis County: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Steele Moseley, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lewis County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Lewis County and bumps their season record up to 9-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
