Softball Recap: Murphysboro Comes Up Short

Murphysboro came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Pinckneyville Panthers, falling 6-0. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Murphysboro's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Pinckneyville, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murphysboro will venture away from home to face off against Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pinckneyville, they will head out to challenge Nashville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
