It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Excel had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hillcrest Jaguars a 22-0 shutout. Excel might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 11 games by six runs or more this season.
Emilee Gulsby made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Gulsby was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Excel got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Barlow, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kyleigh Thomas, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.
Excel now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Hillcrest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.
As of now, neither Excel nor Hillcrest have any future games scheduled.
