Basketball Recap: Lake View Wild Gators vs. Carvers Bay Bears

Lake View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the Carvers Bay Bears on the road by a 58-39 margin. While losing is never fun, the Wild Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Bears are ranked 134th).

Several Wild Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamere Barden, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Timothy Waters, who had 13 points.

Kenard Heyward was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points and four steals for Carvers Bay. Heyward's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mekhi Bromell, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Lake View's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Carvers Bay, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-8.

Lake View wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-35 loss against Johnsonville on the 4th. As for Carvers Bay, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-46 win against Green Sea Floyds on the 4th.
