Baseball Game Preview: Muncie Central Bearcats vs. Greenfield-Central Cougars

The Muncie Central Bearcats will challenge the Greenfield-Central Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Muncie Central will be strutting in after a victory while Greenfield-Central will be coming in after a loss.

On Saturday, Muncie Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Wapahani. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Raiders 4-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bearcats as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Logan Campbell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has become a key player for Muncie Central: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-18 otherwise. Campbell was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Campbell wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gage Emberton, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shelbyville.

Greenfield-Central now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Muncie Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-19.
