Basketball Recap: Merrill Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Merrill had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 1-1 to make it seven. They lost 60-39 to the Wausau West Warriors. If the Bluejays were looking for revenge after losing 60-32 to the Warriors when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Wausau West, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 63.0 points this season.

Wausau West's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Heilmann, who shot 45% from the field en route to 12 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Heilmann a new career-high in assists (three). Jackson Riley was another key player, putting up nine points.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Merrill will take on Crandon at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wausau West, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Prentice at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
