Baseball Game Preview: Paradise Valley Trojans vs. Verrado Vipers

For the second straight game, Paradise Valley will face off against Verrado. The Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Vipers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Paradise Valley has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Paradise Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Verrado and fell 5-3.

For Verrado's part, Colton Zacher and Eli Bebleh did most of the damage at the plate: Zacher went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Bebleh went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Bode Acton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Verrado is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Paradise Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Paradise Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Verrado struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
