Preview: Ocean View Seahawks vs. Segerstrom Jaguars
Ocean View and Segerstrom are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Ocean View Seahawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Segerstrom Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Ocean View's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 62-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Godinez Fundamental. While losing is never fun, Ocean View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 827th, while Godinez Fundamental is ranked 388th).
Brayden Ackerman put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Girotti, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Segerstrom was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 47-42 to Garden Grove. Segerstrom has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ocean View has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. As for Segerstrom, their loss dropped their record down to 7-17.
