Basketball Recap: North Shore Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lufkin, North Shore was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 60-53 win over the Randle Lions. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Lions are ranked 289th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Da'Marcus Sloan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-6 from deep and almost dropping a double-double with 25 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in shooting accuracy (64%). Another player making a difference was Sam Walker, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Randle lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was David Anunne, who shot 60% from the field on his way to 13 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarrett Franklin, who posted seven points and nine boards.

North Shore's record is now 8-4. As for Randle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

North Shore has already played their next contest, a 64-54 victory against Almeta Crawford on the 6th. As for Randle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 78-49 defeat against Cypress Ranch on the 6th.
