Murray is a perfect 5-0 against Jordan since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Murray will square off against Jordan at 3:30 p.m. Murray is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Murray turned things around against Hillcrest on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Huskies.
Savana Whitlock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Whitlock was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Zaylee Winterhalder was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Bigelow, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Murray kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Jordan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 15-0 to Tooele. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Beetdiggers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Jordan's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Murray, their record is now 2-4.
Murray took their victory against Jordan in their previous meeting last Monday by a conclusive 17-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Murray since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
