Softball Game Preview: Westland Cougars vs. London Red Raiders

The Westland Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the London Red Raiders at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Westland fell victim to Madison Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, London had just enough and edged out Bishop Hartley 9-8 on Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Gwyn Wieber, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Samantha Webb, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

London always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Westland now has a losing record of 1-2. As for London, their record is now 4-2.

Westland couldn't quite finish off London in their previous meeting back in April of 2016 and fell 10-8. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
