1. Prime Prep (Dallas)
2012-13 record: 37-2
Head coach: Ray Forsett

The Deion Sanders charter school – which welcomed Allen Iverson in for a midnight madness-type event recently – was a smashing success in its inaugural season a year ago. 247Sports No. 1 Class of 2014 recruit Emmanuel Mudiay should ensure that the follow-up effort is fruitful.

2. Plano West
2012-13 record: 19-14
Head coach: Anthony Morgan



The Wolves are one of the biggest mysteries nationwide. They may have the talent to run the table – even in Texas, where teams can play up to 40 games – but question marks regarding chemistry and health persist. Ohio State commit Mickey Mitchell, who hasn't taken the court since suffering an ACL tear in football last fall, leads a talented list of newcomers on the roster. Senior point guard Avery Johnson Jr. and 6-foot-9, 270-pound junior Tyler Davis are also new to Plano West.

3. DeSoto
2012-13 record: 33-3
Head coach: Chris Dyer

The Eagles are always a safe bet under Dyer. Seniors Julian Green, Terry Maston (Baylor verbal pledge) and Devin Wyatt (Loyola Marymount) will keep the program flying high despite the loss of Matt Jones to Duke.

4. Kimball (Dallas)
2012-13 record: 21-7
Head coach: Royce Johnson

Kimball was mired in controversy last season over eligibility issues but should be ready to get back to its winning ways this winter. Seniors D'Angelo Allen and Trent Brinkley – both in the 6-6 range – give the Knights size and length on the wing. Junior point guard Jawun Evans comes to the program from South Carolina, where he earned a major reputation as a playmaker.

5. South Grand Prairie
2012-13 record: 33-4
Head coach: Brandon Bennett



The Warriors lost Ben Emelogu (now a freshman captain at Virginia Tech) but had a lot of young talent last season and look like a program here to stay under Bennett.
