Football Recap: Miller Grove Falls Short of Morgan County in the Playoffs + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Miller Grove can now relate to. They came up short against the Morgan County Bulldogs on Friday, falling 49-28. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Wolverines, who until this game were averaging 15 points allowed.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Thomas Winston, who threw for 212 yards and two TDs. Frank Johnson Jr. helped Winston out on the ground, rushing for 88 yards and one score.

Morgan County was led to victory by Davis Strickland and Christian Monfort. Strickland threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, while Monfort gained 140 total yards. What's more, Strickland racked up six rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August.

The defeat snapped Miller Grove's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record. As for Morgan County, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Miller Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Morgan County, they will square off against Hapeville Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
